Heather sang her first solo at Bell’s Corners United Church when she was three years old.  Sacred music has been her connection to the Spirit throughout her life.  In her youth, Heather was a part of many church and community choirs and pursued education in voice, piano, music theory, french horn and other brass instruments.  As she moved into adulthood Heather’s vocal studies included working with a number of notable Canadian singers and culminated in a year of studies at the Guildhall in London, England in voice and theory.  Further studies have included vocal training with Joanne Kolomyjec at the University of Ottawa and Donna Brown.  Heather’s career as a classical singer was cut short by a jaw injury and this lead to deeper searching for her life’s calling and finding ways to keep music alive in her life.  [More]

Dorothy Harrison joined First United as Administrator in November 2008. She lives in Westboro and has been engaged on many fronts, including school councils, community groups, local day care issues and food security interests. She appreciates the community spirit fostered at First United, its inclusiveness, and Firsts commitments to social justice issues.
